Understanding Unlisted Programs and How to Publish and Archive Programs on Vygo
Vygo offers a flexible approach to program visibility with its unlistedarchive features. This article will explain what unlisted programs are, how to publish them, and how to archive them, as well as when you might choose to keep a program unlisted or archived.
What are Unlisted Programs?
Unlisted programs are programs that do not appear in the general program directory, even when searched for. The only way to access an unlisted program is through a direct link. This gives you control over who can join your program and allows for behind-the-scenes setup before going public.
Advantages of "Unlisted Programs"
- Controlled Onboarding: Invite specific mentors or members to join before officially launching your program. This ensures support is available for new members from day one.
- Private Communities: Some programs are designed to be exclusive and accessible only through direct invitation.
- Stage Your Launch: Use the unlisted phase to finalize content, test features, and make adjustments without public scrutiny.
How to Publish a Program?
- Navigate to Your Program Page: As a program manager or admin, you'll see a banner on your program page indicating that it's currently unlisted.
- Select "Publish Program" When you're ready to make your program visible in the program directory, simply select this button.
Who Can See Unlisted Programs?
- Program Managers and Admins: They can view and manage both listed and unlisted programs.
- Invited Members: Anyone with the direct link can join the program, even if it's unlisted.
Important Note:
- Only program admins can see the "Unlisted" tab in their program view. Members and mentors will not have this option.
Should You Keep a Program Unlisted?
The decision to publish or keep a program unlisted depends on your specific needs. Consider the following:
- Target Audience: Is your program meant for a broad audience or a selected group?
- Launch Strategy: Do you want a controlled launch with early adopters or a wider public release?
- Privacy Concerns: Do you need to restrict access to certain content or discussions?
How to Archive a Program?
Archiving a program in Vygo allows you to close down programs that are no longer active while keeping a record of their content. Here’s how you can archive a program:
- Navigate to Programs: Go to the programs section and find the program you want to archive.
- Go to Admin: You can see all the internal programs and unlisted programs here. Select the program you would like to archive.
- Go to Settings: Within the program settings, go down to the status section and click on "Archive Program."
- Communicate to Members: You will see an archive message prompt where you need to communicate to the members of your program that it is now being closed down. This message will be sent to all the members in the program.
- Archive the Program: Click "Archive" to finalize the archiving process.
- Notify in Group Chat: If there is a large group chat attached to this program, send a message to the whole group to let them know about the archiving. Then, as an admin, go to the chat settings and click "Archive Chat." This will close down the chat, allowing students to see the content but not engage further.
The unlisted and archiving features provide valuable flexibility for Vygo program creators. Whether you use the unlisted feature for a temporary staging period or to maintain a private community and the archiving feature to close down programs no longer in use, these tools help you tailor your program to your specific goals and needs.
