How to configure the matching criteria in the program?
The Matching Criteria feature, found in your programme’s settings space, allows you to adjust the importance (or “weight”) of different questions used in your matching process.
This flexibility helps you tailor matches between members and supporters to better align with your programme’s goals.
Accessing Matching Criteria

- Go to your programme’s settings space.
- Click on Matching Criteria.
- You’ll see a list of questions currently used to match members and supporters. Each question appears as a tile (e.g., Faculty, Meetings, Goals).
Adjusting the Strength of a Question
You can change the priority level of any matching question at any point in the programme lifecycle — adjustments will not affect users already matched.

Steps:
- Select the question tile you want to edit.
The matching criteria editor will open, showing:
- Matching Criteria Name – The internal name for the criterion.
- Matching Question – The exact wording that is asked of members and supporters.
Matching Priority – The weight given to this question in the matching process.
Choose one of four priority options:
Mandatory – Responses must match for a connection to be made.
High – Strong influence on match scoring.
Medium – Moderate influence on match scoring.
Low – Minimal influence on match scoring.
- Save your changes.
Tips for Using Matching Criteria Effectively
- Use Mandatory sparingly — it can limit potential matches too much.
- Prioritise criteria that are central to your programme’s success (e.g., areas of study, career goals).
- Adjust strengths periodically based on programme performance data.
