How to Set Up and Use In-Chat Translation on Vygo
The in-chat translation feature on Vygo enables users to communicate more effectively across different languages by allowing you to view chat messages in your preferred language. Follow the steps below to enable and use this feature.

In-chat translation is only available to institutions with Vygo’s AI package. This feature must be enabled by the platform owner at your university. If you're unsure whether this feature is active for your institution, please contact your Vygo Partner Success Manager.
Setting Your Preferred Language
For Existing Users
Log into Vygo: Go to web.vygo.app and sign in to your account.
Access Your Profile: Click your profile icon and select Edit Profile.
Set Preferred Language:
- Scroll down to the Languages section.
- Select your preferred language from the dropdown menu.
- Save your changes.

Once this is set, any incoming messages written in a language different from your preferred language will display a "Show Translation" button below them. Clicking this will reveal the translated text.
Note: Translations will only be available for messages sent after your preferred language has been set.
For New Users
During the onboarding process:
- On the first registration screen (where you enter your name and ID), you’ll be asked to select your preferred language.
- Setting it here will enable in-chat translation from the start of your Vygo experience.
Automatic Detection Based on Device Language
If your browser or device language is set to something other than English, Vygo may automatically suggest the translation feature. In this case, the "Show Translation" button may appear in chats even before you manually set a preferred language.
This helps ensure that users whose systems are configured in another language are supported from the outset.
