What are Events?

Events in Vygo allow programs to create and promote activities that students and supporters can discover, register for, and attend.

Events provide a structured way to manage sessions such as workshops, mentoring catch-ups, networking events, and information sessions, all within the platform.

Why use Events?

Events help improve how programs engage users by making it easier to promote upcoming activities and manage attendance.

Key benefits include:

  • Discoverability: Users can browse and filter events in a dedicated events page
  • Simplified registration: Users can register for events directly within the platform
  • Engagement tracking: Monitor attendance, responses, and feedback
  • Flexible setup: Run events online, in-person, or link to external registration pages

Types of events

Events can be set up in different ways depending on how they are run:

  • Internal events: Created and managed within Vygo, with registration and attendance tracked in-platform. These can be set up by admins and supporters who have been given permission.
  • External events: Link out to an external registration page (e.g. Zoom or university systems). These can only be set up by admins.
  • Recurring events: A series of events that repeat over time (e.g. weekly sessions). These can only be set up by admins.

Where do Events live?

Users can find events in two main places:

  • The Events page, where they can browse and filter all available events
  • Their dashboard, which shows events they have registered for

Who can see events?

Audience settings control who can see and access an event. There are three main options:

  • Public: Visible to all users on the platform
  • Program-only: Visible to users in a specific program (users must join to attend)
  • Private: Visible only to selected users based on program criteria

These settings allow programs to control who can discover and attend each event. Audience is set during the event creation.
