How to Access and Share Resources
Program Resources are designed to be easy for users to find, view, and share within and outside of Vygo. This guide explains how users access resources and how sharing works.
Accessing resources
Resources are available within a program via the Resources tab.
- The Resources tab will only appear once at least one resource has been added
- Users must be a member of the program to access its resources
What users can see
Access to resources depends on the user’s role:
- Members: Can view public resources only
- Supporters: Can view both public and supporter-only resources
If a user does not have permission to view a resource, they will see a message explaining why access is restricted.
Viewing and downloading resources
Users can interact with resources directly within Vygo:
- Files can be opened and viewed within the platform
- Files can also be downloaded for offline access
- Links will open the external content in a new tab
This allows users to quickly access important materials without needing to leave the platform (for files).
Sharing resources
Resources can be shared via a unique link.
How to share a resource
- Navigate to the Resources tab
- Select the resource you want to share
- Click Share and copy the link
- Paste the link into a chat or send it externally (e.g. email)
What happens when a resource is shared
When someone opens a shared resource link, their experience will depend on their access:
- If they are a member of the program: The resource will open directly
- If they are not a member: They will be prompted to join the program to access the resource
- If they don’t have permission (e.g. supporter-only resource): They will see a message explaining the restriction
If the user is not logged in, they may be prompted to sign in or register before accessing the resource.
Using resources to support engagement
Sharing resources can help drive engagement within your programs. For example, you can:
- Share helpful resources in chats to support conversations
- Send resource links externally to encourage users to join a program
- Provide easy access to key materials without needing to resend files
By making resources easy to access and share, you can ensure users get the information they need at the right time.
