What is Vy?

Vy is Vygo's AI Support Assistant. It helps students find the right programs, events, supporters and resources by asking in their own words, and helps admins get answers about running Vygo and about their program data.

Instead of browsing through lists, a student can ask something like "Is there anything to help with essay writing?" and Vy recommends options they can act on straight away.

Why use Vy?

Vy removes the guesswork for students who do not know what support exists or what it is called.

  • Faster access to support: Students get to the right program, event or supporter in one question
  • Recommendations that lead to action: Each recommendation appears as a card with a button, such as Join program, Register or Start message
  • Fewer routine questions for your team: Vy answers "how do I use Vygo" questions using the Vygo help centre
  • Help for admins too: Admins can ask Vy how to set up and run things in Vygo, with answers drawn from this partner help centre
  • Data answers without a report request: With Program Insights switched on, admins can ask about their program data in plain English

What can Vy help with?

For students and supporters, Vy can:

  • Recommend programs, events, supporters and resources
  • Answer questions about how to use Vygo, with links to the help articles it used
  • Reply in the language the student writes in

For admins, Vy can also:

  • Answer questions about setting up and managing Vygo, using the partner help centre
  • Answer questions about program data through Program Insights, if your organisation has turned it on. See How to Use Vy Program Insights

Where does Vy live?

Vy is available from the Ask Vy button at the bottom of the left menu. It opens in a side panel, can be expanded to full screen, and people can keep several separate conversations and return to them at any time.

Who can see Vy?

Vy is only available once an Owner has turned it on for your organisation. See How to Set Up and Use Vy.

Once it is on, Vy respects each person's role and program access:

  • Public programs: events, supporters and resources can be recommended to non-members, with a prompt to join first
  • Private programs: content is only recommended to members, supporters and admins of that program
  • Supporter-only resources: only recommended to people who hold a supporter role in that program
  • External roles (such as Alumni or Industry Expert): only see content from programs they have been assigned to

Your organisation's staff cannot read a student's conversations with Vy.

Does Vy have usage limits?

Yes. Each person has a daily usage limit, so your organisation's AI costs stay predictable. When someone reaches their limit, Vy lets them know when it resets. There is also a short limit on how many messages can be sent per minute.

If your students are regularly reaching their limit, contact your Partner Success Manager.

What happens if a student raises a wellbeing concern?

Vy is not a counselling or crisis service and does not assess anyone. If a student says something that suggests a risk to their safety, Vy shows them local crisis support contacts.

Vy also passes the student's message to your organisation's support contact emails, so your own wellbeing process can take over. These are the same contacts notified when a chat message is reported. Your Partner Success Manager sets them up, so check with them before you turn Vy on.
